Softball Recap: Gallup Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Gallup posted their closest win since March 30, 2024 on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Kirtland Central Broncos 10-9. The victory was familiar territory for the Bengals, who have now won three games in a row.

Madison Martinez and Mckenzie Notah did most of the damage at the plate: Martinez scored three runs while going 2-for-4, while Notah went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave Martinez a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Leia Tso, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Gallup's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Kirtland Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

Coming up, Gallup will venture away from home to challenge Chinle at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.46 runs per game on average), something the Bengals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Kirtland Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Miyamura at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
