Softball Recap: Blacksher Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

Blacksher pushed their score to 17 the last time they played St. Michael Catholic, but on Friday they couldn't quite do it again. Blacksher never let St. Michael Catholic get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cardinals, too.

Elisabeth Scott tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, Blacksher saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Laney Saucer, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Blacksher always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Michael Catholic only posted an OBP of .368.

Blacksher has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. St. Michael Catholic is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.

Looking ahead, Blacksher will take on Robertsdale at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for St. Michael Catholic, a feisty cat fight will be fought as St. Michael Catholic Cardinals face off against T.R. Miller Tigers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. T.R. Miller's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so St. Michael Catholic's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
