Basketball Recap: Rodriguez Takes a Loss

If Rodriguez was riding high fresh off their 72-49 takedown of Wood last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rodriguez Mustangs were just a bucket shy of victory on Wednesday and fell 74-73 to the Sacramento Dragons. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now lost three in a row.

Rodriguez's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Khamanni Martin, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 16 points and eight boards. Martin is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 57% in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mason Adimora, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Rodriguez's defeat dropped their record down to 20-6. As for Sacramento, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 16-11 record this season.

Looking ahead, Rodriguez will challenge Vanden at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Vanden will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Rodriguez surely won't give up without a fight. As for Sacramento, they will square off against Pioneer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sacramento is facing Pioneer at the right time seeing as Pioneer is stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
