Carbondale Area starts season with loss on the road

Recap: Carbondale Area Chargers vs. Mid Valley Spartans
Carbondale Area kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 8-1 walloping at the hands of the Mid Valley Spartans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Carbondale Area of the 15-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.
For Mid Valley's part, the team relied heavily on Elise Larson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Parker Bennett, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carbondale Area will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off.
