Softball Recap: New Oxford Victorious

New Oxford won the last time they faced Red Lion and things went their way on Friday too. New Oxford came out on top against Red Lion by a score of 9-5.

Miranda Leatherman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Leatherman was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those hits were her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooklyn Horick, who went 2-for-4 with two triples and two runs. Emily Adams was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

New Oxford now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Red Lion, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Coincidentally, New Oxford and Red Lion will both be playing William Penn the next time they take the field. Red Lion will host William Penn at 4:15 p.m. on Monday, while New Oxford will head out to face them at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
