Football Game Preview: Aspen Skiers vs. Delta Panthers + How To Watch

Aspen hasn't had much luck against Delta recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Skiers will challenge the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Aspen will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.

Aspen is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 47-14 win over Moffat County. With the Skiers ahead 31-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Dylan Mika continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 251 yards and four scores on only 14 carries. Those 251 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mickey Marolt, who threw for 171 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 75% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Aspen was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 246 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 157 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks on offense in their last four games, Delta finally came back down to earth last Friday. The contest between the Panthers and Basalt didn't end well, with the Panthers falling 14-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

Even if they lost, Delta's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Alex McKenna, SCOTT Floyd, and Landon Hamm, who each picked up one sack apiece. Delta got some further help from McKenna: he picked up a sack and made 15 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Delta's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Aspen, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3.

Aspen suffered a grim 28-7 defeat to Delta when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Skiers, Ty Reed (who rushed for 41 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 136 yards and a pair of TDs) won't be suiting up this time.
