Volleyball Recap: Battle Mountain Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Battle Mountain can now relate to. They lost 3-0 to the Montrose Red Hawks on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Huskies in their meetings with the Red Hawks: they've now lost five in a row.

Battle Mountain's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sky Gwin, who had 32 assists and 12 digs. Gwin is crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 13 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Evie Steinberg, who had 12 digs and two aces.

Battle Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 22-4. As for Montrose, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 23-3.

Battle Mountain didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Green Mountain on the 14th. As for Montrose, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Lutheran on the 14th.
