Basketball Recap: Ava Schooler's Big Game Can't Quite Lead O'connor over Lynwood

On Friday, the O'Connor Eagles came up short against the Lynwood Knights and fell 53-45. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Eagles came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 73rd in Arizona, while the Knights are ranked 386th in California).

O'Connor's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Schooler, who posted 16 points and seven boards. Audrey Bhesania was another key player, putting up 12 points and eight rebounds.

O'Connor has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Lynwood, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-7.

O'Connor wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-39 victory against Orange Lutheran on the 21st. As for Lynwood, they will be taking part in a tournament against Sunnyslope at 7:00 p.m. on December 27th.
