Basketball Recap: Charlotte Catholic Extends Winning Streak to Three

Charlotte Catholic waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 70-52 win over the Kings Mountain Mountaineers. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mountaineers, too.

Charlotte Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Joseph Kapsiak, who went 8-for-10 to rack up 19 points and eight rebounds. Kapsiak continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mack Jordan, who shot 75% from the field on his way to 18 points.

Kings Mountain lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Christian Hill, who went 8-for-12 en route to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of KJ Bell, who posted 11 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Charlotte Catholic's record is now 5-1. As for Kings Mountain, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Charlotte Catholic is headed away from home for the first time to square off against South Mecklenburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars will be up against the Sabres' rather soft defense (which has allowed 62 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Kings Mountain, they are taking a road trip to challenge Lake Norman Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mountaineers are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
