Football Game Preview: Newman Smith Trojans vs. White Longhorns + How To Watch

The Newman Smith Trojans will face off against the White Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Newman Smith knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully White likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Newman Smith made easy work of North Mesquite and carried off a 44-23 victory. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won three matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.

Newman Smith's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Axel Lofstrand, who threw for 348 yards and five TDs while completing 76.2% of his passes. That's the most passing touchdowns Lofstrand has posted since back in October of 2024. Newman Smith's leading receiver Maxim Mingo was Lofstrand's top target yet again, picking up 163 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Meanwhile, White had to suffer through a 42-13 loss at the hands of Creekview. The Longhorns have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Newman Smith now has a winning record of 3-2. As for White, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Newman Smith was able to grind out a solid victory over White when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 35-28. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Longhorns have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
