Baseball Recap: Grant County Comes Up Short

Dixie Heights hit Grant County with a four-run seventh inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Braves fell just short of the Colonels by a score of 8-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Braves of the 14-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

Luke Williams made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Grant County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Xavier Camacho also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Grant County's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Dixie Heights, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-12-1 record this season.
