Preview: Johnsburg Central Jaguars vs. Crown Point Panthers
Johnsburg Central is 1-9 against the Panthers since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Johnsburg Central Jaguars will head out on the road to face off against the Crown Point Panthers at 6:30 p.m. Johnsburg Central comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
On Wednesday, Johnsburg Central had to suffer through a rough 70-34 loss at the hands of the Beavers. Johnsburg Central was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-14.
Despite the loss, Johnsburg Central saw an underclassman step up: Nick Sauer-Jones dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Sauer-Jones is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Sears, who scored five points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, even though Wells scored an imposing 64 points on Wednesday, Crown Point still came out on top. Crown Point took down the Wells CSD 80-64.
Johnsburg Central dropped their record down to 0-12 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Crown Point, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Johnsburg Central was dealt a bruising 85-35 defeat at the hands of the Panthers in their previous meeting back in February of 2023.
