Baseball Recap: Summit Academy Comes Up Short

Summit Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 25 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-13 in the process. They lost 16-1 to the Union Area Scotties. That's two games in a row now that the Knights have lost by exactly 15 runs.

As for Union Area, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-7. The matchup marked their most dominant victory of the season.

For Union Area's part, Jalen Peace made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Peace has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chris Staph, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Dom Cucitrone was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

While Summit Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
