Basketball Recap: Washington Waldorf Find Success

Washington Waldorf posted their closest win since February 8, 2024 on Thursday. They skirted past the Model Secondary School for the Deaf Eagles 51-48. This was a revenge game for Washington Waldorf: when they faced off against Model Secondary School for the Deaf back in November of 2024, they had to take a 45-34 loss.

Despite the defeat, Model Secondary School for the Deaf saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Johan Hewapathirana posted 31 points. Hewapathirana's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Washington Waldorf's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Model Secondary School for the Deaf, they dropped their record down to 7-13 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Washington Waldorf will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against The Lab School of Washington at 5:00 p.m. on February 21st. As for Model Secondary School for the Deaf, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 62-34 defeat against Sandy Spring Friends on the 27th.
