Baseball Game Preview: Dan River Wildcats vs. Patrick County Cougars

Dan River is 0-7 against Patrick County since April of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Wildcats will challenge the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Dan River is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Glenvar a 1-0 shutout. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Highlanders recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Patrick County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. Everything went their way against Radford on Friday as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cougars considering their two-run performance the game before.

Patrick County pushed their record up to 15-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Dan River, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.

Dan River couldn't quite finish off Patrick County in their previous matchup back in March and fell 7-5. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
