Basketball Recap: Discovery Canyon Comes Up Short

Discovery Canyon lost against Air Academy back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Discovery Canyon Thunder were dealt a 75-18 loss at the hands of the Air Academy Kadets. The Thunder were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-10.

Discovery Canyon's loss came despite strong showings from Taylor McCann and Isabelle Ackerman. McCann posted ten points and six boards, while Ackerman earned no points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Air Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kinley Asp, who went 8 of 14 on her way to 20 points and five assists. Tatyonna Brown was another key player, going 10 for 20 en route to 21 points and eight rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Discovery Canyon and nudges their season record down to 8-5. As for Air Academy, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.

Discovery Canyon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 44-38 defeat against Lutheran on the 24th. As for Air Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 75-15 win against Cheyenne Mountain on the 24th.
