Baseball Recap: East Lincoln Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

East Lincoln had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They had just enough and edged out the Rockingham County Cougars 6-5. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by just one run.

East Lincoln got a great performance from Ty Davis as he pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, Davis posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brandon Washington, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Hager, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

East Lincoln pushed their record up to 20-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Rockingham County, their loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 24-3.

Coming up, East Lincoln will square off against North Lincoln on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mustangs 3.8, the Knights 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Rockingham County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
