Baseball Recap: Shelby County Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Shelby County won the last time they faced Bardstown and things went their way on Friday too. The Rockets came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 12-7. That's two games straight that the Rockets have won by exactly five runs.

Vinny Atchison was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Atchison was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jack Stewart was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Foster Whisman was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Shelby County's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-17. As for Bardstown, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-16-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shelby County will host North Bullitt at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Rockets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Bardstown, they will welcome Cumberland County at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.
