Basketball Game Preview: Pender Pendragons vs. Walthill Blujays

The Pender Pendragons will take on the Walthill Blujays at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pender will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Pender is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Guardian Angels Central Catholic, who was ranked 11th at the time (Pender was ranked eighth). Pender came out on top against Guardian Angels Central Catholic by a score of 53-44 last Tuesday.

Pender's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madalyn Dolliver, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Maya Dolliver, who posted 14 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Walthill earned a 54-46 victory over East Butler on Monday.

Walthill found their leader in sophomore Khirstin Wolfe, who went 12-for-24 on her way to 31 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Wolfe has scored at least a third of Walthill's points. Tangela Randol was another key player, putting up ten points along with seven boards and four steals.

Pender pushed their record up to 22-2 with the win, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.1 points. As for Walthill, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-12 record this season.

Keep an eye on the arc in Wednesday's contest: Pender has been dynamite from deep this season, having nailed 35% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Walthill, though, as they've only made 27.1% of their three-pointers this season.
