Basketball Game Preview: Gateway Panthers vs. Heritage Christian School Eagles

The Gateway Panthers just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Heritage Christian School Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Monday, Gateway earned a 50-39 win over Harmony. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Panthers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while the Longhorns are ranked 99th).

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Heritage Christian School's strategy against Family Christian Academy on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Heritage Christian School blew Family Christian Academy out of the water with a 70-41 final score. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 24 points or more this season.

Heritage Christian School found their leader in sophomore Jeremiah Reid, who went 14 for 21 en route to 30 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Reid, who went 9 of 16 on his way to 19 points along with five boards and three steals.

Heritage Christian School's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. As for Gateway, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10.

Gateway took their win against Heritage Christian School in their previous matchup back in January of 2019 by a conclusive 82-61. Does Gateway have another victory up their sleeve, or will Heritage Christian School turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
