Baseball Recap: Herron Snags Ninth Win in Last 12 Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Herron had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils as they made off with a 10-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Achaeans, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Colvin Meek made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Meek was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Elon Sharp was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Herron kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indianapolis Shortridge only managed four hits.

Herron is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Indianapolis Shortridge, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

Coming up, Herron will face off against Cathedral at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Achaeans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Fighting Irish have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. Indianapolis Shortridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
