Basketball Recap: Ephrata Takes a Loss

On Tuesday, the Ephrata Mountaineers came up short against the Cumberland Valley Eagles and fell 61-48. While losing is never fun, the Mountaineers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the Eagles are ranked seventh).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cumberland Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Creston Austin, who went 6-for-9 en route to 20 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Nolan Buzalka, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds.

Ephrata's defeat dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Cumberland Valley, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-3.

Ephrata does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cumberland Valley, they will face off against Central Dauphin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Central Dauphin's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games.
