Softball Recap: Lowell's Winning Streak Snapped at 11 Games

Lowell dropped their record down to 13-5 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's 11-game streak of wins. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Munster Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-2 back in April.

Ashlee Evans made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Munster, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games.

On Munster's side, they got a big performance out of Cali Rybicki, who went 1-for-2 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Miah Almaguer, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

Lowell and Munster should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Red Devils will face off against Illiana Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (22 vs. 98). The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lowell 3.3, the Vikings 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Munster (ranked sixth) will meet Valparaiso (ranked 164th) at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
