Basketball Recap: Voyager Academy Skates Past Triangle Math & Science Academy with Ease + How To Watch

Voyager Academy won the last time they faced Triangle Math & Science Academy and things went their way on Friday too. The Vikings simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Tigers 73-42. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 21 points or more this season.

Voyager Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julian Quinones, who posted nine points along with seven boards and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Darin Jones, who shot 50% from the field en route to 14 points.

Voyager Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February.

Jailen Hawkins and Ayyoub Baianonie certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Hawkins had 17 points and six rebounds, while Baianonie put up nine points.

The victory made it two in a row for Voyager Academy and bumps their season record up to 5-5. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 6-1 East Wake Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 67.9% over those games). As for Triangle Math & Science Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Coming up, Voyager Academy will be taking part in a tournament against West Carteret at 1:30 p.m. on the 29th. The Vikings' defense better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 69.3 points per game this season. As for Triangle Math & Science Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while.
