Basketball Recap: Centauri Falcons vs. Pagosa Springs Pirates

After a string of four wins, the Centauri Falcons's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell to Pagosa Springs 33-29. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Centauri has scored all season.

Centauri lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Carson Bagwell, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb Anderson, who scored seven points along with four steals.

Pagosa Springs got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Blake Laner out in front who scored six points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Laner is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nathaniel Kinsley, who scored ten points.

Centauri's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5. As for Pagosa Springs, their victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-1.

Centauri and the Panthers will face off at 2:00 p.m. on February 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Montezuma-Cortez is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Pagosa Springs, they and the Bobcats will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Ignacio will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 197th, while the Pirates are ranked 22nd).
