Basketball Recap: Rocky Mountain Lutheran Comes Up Short

It was a Battle of the Birds when Rocky Mountain Lutheran faced off against Front Range Baptist on Tuesday. The Rocky Mountain Lutheran Eagles took a 57-42 bruising from the Front Range Baptist Falcons. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Rocky Mountain Lutheran saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Abraham Rivas posted 18 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Harris, who earned nine points.

Front Range Baptist's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Pierce, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. Those nine rebounds gave Pierce a new career-high. Mark Sutton was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 11 boards.

Rocky Mountain Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Front Range Baptist, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Rocky Mountain Lutheran does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Front Range Baptist, they will face off against Denver Jewish Day at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Front Range Baptist is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season.
