Medicine Lodge hadn't done well against Belle Plaine recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Indians put the hurt on the Dragons with a sharp 14-1 victory. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Indians this season.

Adalynn Cope spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Avalon Theis, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Emmy Gerdes, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Medicine Lodge's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Belle Plaine, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Medicine Lodge beat the Dragons by a score of 17-8 later that day.
