Summit Academy is on a ten-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Cottonwood a five-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. The Summit Academy Bears will look to defend their home field against the Cottonwood Colts at 3:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Ellie Sylvia made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddisyn Christensen, who scored a run and stole a base.
Even though they lost, Summit Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Cottonwood was a bit more limited in their matchup on Wednesday. They came up short against Stansbury, falling 16-1. The game marked the Colts' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Cottonwood saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Juliet Lewis, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.
Cottonwood now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Summit Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Summit Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .581. However, it's not like Cottonwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .442. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
