Basketball Recap: Estancia Comes Up Short

Estancia played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Savanna Rebels, falling 71-51. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1182nd, while the Rebels are ranked 553rd).

Savanna was led to victory by Branden Ellis and Mathys Rudel. Ellis went 9 for 14 on his way to 27 points, while Rudel dropped a double-double on 15 points and 17 rebounds. Those 27 points gave Ellis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Paul Henderson, who posted nine points and five rebounds.

Estancia has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season. As for Savanna, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-6.

Estancia will face off against Rancho Alamitos at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Savanna, they will square off against Santiago at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Savanna is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.9 points per game this season.
