Basketball Recap: Aransas Pass Takes a Loss

Aransas Pass lost against West Oso on January 3rd and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Aransas Pass Panthers lost 57-35 to the West Oso Bears. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1085th, while the Bears are ranked 260th).

It was another big night for Malaigha Sweats, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 14 boards for West Oso. That's the most points SweatS has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alivia Shaw, who posted six points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Aransas Pass and nudges their season record down to 11-19. As for West Oso, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-5.

Aransas Pass will welcome Mathis at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Oso has already played their next matchup (against George West), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
