Baseball Game Preview: William Penn Bearcats vs. Spring Grove Rockets

William Penn hasn't had much luck against Spring Grove recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Bearcats will be playing at home against the Rockets at 4:15 p.m. William Penn has given up an average of 11.6 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

William Penn is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They lost 15-0 to Red Lion.

Spring Grove came out on top against Dover on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run seventh inning. The Rockets blew past the Eagles 12-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rockets.

Jacob Desort tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Tanner Hoffman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Spring Grove: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5-1 otherwise. Ashton Parks was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Spring Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dover only posted an OBP of .222.

The victory got Spring Grove back to even at 6-6-1. As for William Penn, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
