Basketball Recap: Jenkins County Falls Despite Big Games from Joyin Roberson and Kimora Hemphill

Jenkins County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers, falling 47-27. The War Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buccaneers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.

Jenkins County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kimora Hemphill, who posted 12 points, and Joyin Roberson, who scored three points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Jenkins County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

McIntosh County Academy found their leader in freshman J?Myiah Moore, who put up 16 points along with eight boards and seven steals. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for Moore. Jenkins County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for McIntosh County Academy, their victory ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-4.

Jenkins County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 45-32 loss against Portal on the 13th. As for McIntosh County Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-30 win against Claxton on the 13th.
