Football Recap: Glenn Bobcats vs. Freeland Falcons

Glenn lost against Freeland back in October of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Glenn Bobcats had to suffer through a 54-27 loss at the hands of the Freeland Falcons. The Bobcats have struggled against the Falcons recently, as their game on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Glenn saw an underclassman step up: Garrett Hilborn rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, and also picked up 39 receiving yards. Those 150 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Hilborn. Glenn also got help from Bradley Boyk, who showed off his sure hands for 103 receiving yards.

Max Heyn continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Freeland, rushing for 225 yards and four touchdowns on only eight carries, while also throwing for 36 yards and a touchdown. Heyn really tore up the turf during one magnificent 82-yard run. Owen Case was another key player, rushing for 69 yards and a touchdown.

Glenn now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Freeland, the win for them keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Glenn will venture away from home to challenge Powers Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Freeland, it'll be Battle of the Birds when Falcons faces off against Frankenmuth at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Freeland has won nine straight at home dating back to last season, while Frankenmuth won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
