Basketball Recap: Lafayette County Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Lafayette County took on Taylor on Thursday. The Lafayette County Cougars took a 54-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Taylor Tigers. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 53-52.

Despite the loss, Lafayette County still got an impressive performance from Atesa Johnson, who posted 19 points in addition to six steals and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Johnson a new career-high in blocks (two). Trinity Mckinney was another key player, putting up ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Lafayette County's defeat dropped their record down to 20-6. As for Taylor, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season.

Lafayette County has already played their next game, a 46-24 victory against Kirby on the 6th. As for Taylor, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 win against Columbia Christian on the 4th.
