Coventry took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Chariho, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Oakers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Chargers on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Oakers have posted since April 24th.

Sage SoareS tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Coventry's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Payton Baris, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Coventry's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-6. As for Chariho, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 14-6 record.

Looking ahead, Coventry will square off against Smithfield at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Oakers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sentinels have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Chariho, they will take on Pilgrim at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
