Baseball Recap: Kankakee Find Success

Kankakee proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 13) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Urbana Tigers 5-4. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Kays also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Eli Stipp, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Kankakee's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-19 when he doesn't). Alexander Grill also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Kankakee's victory bumped their record up to 10-19. As for Urbana, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 14 of their last 15 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-21 record this season.

Kankakee will venture away from home to take on Morris at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Urbana does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
