Preview: Haywood vs. Springfield
Haywood and Springfield are battling to keep their seasons alive when they face off in a playoff match this Friday at 7:00 PM. Haywood has blown out its past seven opponents, so Springfield has its work cut out for it.
The match between Haywood and Crockett County was close at the half, but it sure didn't end that way. Haywood took its game against Crockett County last week by a confident 49 - 21 score. Sophomore Decourtney Reed was especially active in the win, finding the end zone an impressive five times. This sound performance was nothing new for Reed, who has been a rock for Haywood in the past 13 games. Additional support came from senior Tristan Taylor, a defensive powerhouse who racked up 13 tackles. As for Springfield, it won a game last week that couldn't get any closer, slipping by Jackson South Side 23 - 22.
Their wins bumped Haywood to 11-2 and Springfield to 10-3. We'll find out which team can carry over its success and which team inevitably falls when Haywood and Springfield clash.
