Soccer Game Preview: Collinsville vs. Claremore

The Collinsville Cardinals will square off against the Claremore Zebras at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Collinsville and Pryor meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Cardinals fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-2.

Meanwhile, Claremore unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 5-1 to East Central. While losing is never fun, Claremore can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma soccer rankings (they are ranked 89th, while East Central are ranked 12th).

Collinsville has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Claremore, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-7.

Everything went Collinsville's way against Claremore when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Collinsville made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Zebras have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
