Baseball Recap: Granby Gets the Win

Granby came out on top against Smith Academy on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Rams walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Falcons. This was payback for the Rams, who suffered a 1-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Joseph Barrett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

At the plate, Brodie Funk was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gavin Moreno, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Granby's win bumped their record up to 3-12. As for Smith Academy, their loss was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-12.

Granby didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 9-5 defeat against Palmer on the 16th. As for Smith Academy, they will face off against Lee at 4:00 p.m. on the 22nd. The Falcons are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
