Baseball Recap: Perrysburg Comes Up Short

Perrysburg lost against Ottawa Hills back in April, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Yellow Jackets fell just short of the Green Bears by a score of 4-3.

Perrysburg got a good showing from Preston Faris, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Faris has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brayden Heitmeyer and Ryan Rettig stepped up to the plate in a big way. Heitmeyer went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Rettig went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Heitmeyer has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Perrysburg's defeat dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Ottawa Hills, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-3.

Coming up, Perrysburg will be playing in front of their home fans against Maumee at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Ottawa Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
