Baseball Recap: Western Heights Makes It Three in a Row at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Guthrie, Western Heights was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top against the Del City Eagles by a score of 9-4. That's more bragging rights for the Jets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Caden Wiebusch made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Akin Aguillard was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Western Heights is 2-1 when Aguillard posts three or more RBI, but 8-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kole Schrock, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Western Heights' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-11. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Del City, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-22.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Western Heights beat the Eagles by a score of 25-6 on Tuesday.
