Softball Preview: Plainwell Trojans vs. Hamilton Hawkeyes

Plainwell is 0-4 against Hamilton since May of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Plainwell Trojans will head out on the road to take on the Hamilton Hawkeyes at 4:00 p.m.

Plainwell is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 21 runs last Tuesday, they were much more limited against Edwardsburg on Tuesday. They fell victim to a tough 15-0 loss at the hands of the Eddies.

Meanwhile, Hamilton put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Allendale by a score of 9-5. Nine seems to be a good number for Hamilton as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Savanna Eding and Ella Davison did most of the damage at the plate: Eding went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI, while Davison scored a run while going 3-for-3. Davison hasn't dropped below three hits for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Julia Brown, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Plainwell now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Hamilton, their victory was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0.

Plainwell came up short against Hamilton in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, falling 13-9. Can Plainwell avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
