Softball Recap: Lancaster Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Lancaster waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victor by a 15-0 margin over the Wyatt Chaparrals. While the Tigers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Sophia Zuniga made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Tatiana Price was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stole at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kelsea Patton, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.

Lancaster always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .842. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .600 or higher in 12 consecutive contests.

Lancaster's record now sits at 13-1. As for Wyatt, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-4-1.

Lancaster wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 14-2 victory against Spruce on the 1st. As for Wyatt, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Side at 7:00 p.m. on March 7th.
