Volleyball Recap: St. Pius X Comes Up Short

St. Pius X was the 3-1 winner over Notre Dame when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Lancers fell 3-1 to the Bulldogs on Wednesday. The Lancers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Notre Dame scored at least 17 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-23, 18-25, 25-23, 25-17.

Reece Archer paced St. Pius X's offense, picking up 17 kills. Archer got some help from Manny Verzola and his 38 assists.

St. Pius X's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 12-6. As for Notre Dame, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season.

St. Pius X will face off against Saxony Lutheran at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Notre Dame does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
