Basketball Game Preview: River Valley Vikings vs. Ontario Warriors

The River Valley Vikings will challenge the Ontario Warriors at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in River Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 16 games.

River Valley is returning to their home court after beating Cardington-Lincoln on theirs, despite the fact Cardington-Lincoln has dominated at home this season. River Valley was the clear victor by an 86-61 margin over Cardington-Lincoln on Saturday. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead River Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chase Smith, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and ten boards. Those ten rebounds gave Smith a new career-high. Sawyer Weston was another key player, going 9 for 14 en route to 20 points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Meanwhile, Ontario scored the most points they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of Highland by a score of 82-80. The Warriors' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

River Valley pushed their record up to 17-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.2 points over those games. As for Ontario, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.

Everything came up roses for River Valley against Ontario in their previous meeting back in January, as the team secured a 72-29 win. In that contest, River Valley amassed a halftime lead of 38-18, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
