Basketball Recap: Academy at the Lakes Comes Up Short

Academy at the Lakes lost against Canterbury back in February of 2019 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Academy at the Lakes Wildcats lost 63-39 to the Canterbury Crusaders.

Despite the loss, Academy at the Lakes still got an impressive performance from Will Pe?a, who posted 11 points. Bradley Cullinan was another key player, putting up nine points and five boards.

Canterbury's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brooks Merrill, who made all 6 shots he took to post 16 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Merrill a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Oliver Forrester, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 17 points.

Academy at the Lakes has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for Canterbury, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-8.

Academy at the Lakes didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-51 defeat against Hernando Christian Academy on the 24th. As for Canterbury, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 52-42 victory against St. Petersburg Catholic on the 25th.
