Softball Recap: Patterson Takes a Loss

Patterson extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 7-17. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 14-13 heartbreaker at the hands of the Manteca Buffaloes. Even though they lost, the Tigers' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Miranda Pena Chavez stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Dallimore, who went 4-for-5 with three runs and one double.

As for Manteca, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

On Manteca's side, Ayva Wilkins was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Wilkins has posted since April 3rd. Another player making a difference was Lauren Moncada, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Patterson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Manteca, they are taking a road trip to take on Mountain House at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.53 runs per game on average), something the Buffaloes will no doubt try to take advantage of.
