Wilson Memorial will be up against a hot Staunton team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The Storm's defense stepped up to hand Alleghany a 6-0 shutout on Wednesday. Given Staunton's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Alleghany are ranked 125th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wilson Memorial). They put the hurt on Riverheads with a sharp 8-0 win on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Wilson Memorial as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Staunton pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 38 goals over those three matchups. As for Wilson Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 2-4-1.

Staunton took their victory against Wilson Memorial in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 7-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Storm since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
