Recap: Bartlett Panthers vs. Arlington Tigers

The Bartlett Panthers posted their biggest win since December 26, 2023 on Friday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 55-23 victory over Arlington. Given Bartlett's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Arlington is ranked 207th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bartlett's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carrington Jones, who scored ten points along with three steals. Zoey Rixter was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.

Arlington's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Zaria Moss, who scored seven points, and Cydney Hurt who scored three points along with five rebounds.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Arlington struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Bartlett racked up 14 assists.

Bartlett's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.4 points per game. As for Arlington, they have fallen quite a ways from their 21-9 record last season and are now at 5-9.

Bartlett won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Knoxville Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on January 13th. Knoxville Catholic is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Arlington will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Houston at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Anna lee Avery and Moss.
