Softball Recap: East River Has No Trouble Against Colonial

While East River put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Colonial. The Falcons blew past the Grenadiers 12-0. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Grenadiers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Talisa Soto made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Mady Alvarado was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Emma Hammond was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

East River was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Colonial only posted a batting average of .067.

East River's record is now 10-5. As for Colonial, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

East River will take on Innovation in a tournament on Monday. As for Colonial, they will take on Boone at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
